the male dog..um swellsAnswer by thumpergirl_1979
The way the male and female is formed is the main reason. The female has a ring of muscles on the inside of her vagina. The male if you may have noticed has a knot(for lack of better term) far back on his penis. When he is fully penatrated and erect that knot will be just past the ring of muscles inside the female. Those muscles kind of create a locking mechanism(until ejaculation has occured) kind of like a zip tie you know where you can insert the end in but cant pull it back out because of the ketch. The females vaginal muscles milk(for lack of better term) or spasm around the penis until the male ejaculates. Anywhere from 5 to 20 mins I guess depending on the dogs. Thats the technicals anyway on why they get tied upAnswer by Jennifer T
Oy! Such misonformation here! The male has an anatomical part of the penis called the bulbous gladis. When breeding, the male’s bulbous glandis swells to lodge in the female, which is called a ‘tie’. They generally will turn around tail to tail during this time so as to be less defenseless against predators. The tie lasts from 10-50 minutes, and newither dog should be disturbed, as trying to force them apart can permanently damage both the male’s and the female’s reproductive organs. The tie helps ensure reproduction takes place. Dogs can get pregnant without a tie, but it is not as likely.Answer by Kristen
The male dog actually has these two almond shaped bumps thats swell at the base of his penis (not his testicles) and that is what keeps them stuck together. You may also notice these lumps when your dog has an erection.
