The volume for the day is never the same , If you look at the nasdaq volume and yahoo finance volume.

During the trading day, yahoo data is 15-minute delayed. If you are observing yahoo data consistently lower, that is probably all you are seeing.
If that is not always the case, please edit your question to add more info and perhaps an example or two.
