Tyrese: Why are some companies in NYSE (New York Stock Exchange) and not in other stock exchanges? Is NYSE smtg specia?
PS: i also noticed that a big company like Samsung is not on NYSE? How come?

Generally speaking – the New York Stock Exchange is the most prestigious in the USA.
Once you are listed there, there is little value being listed on another US Exchange.

Each exchange has listing requirements for companies to trade their stock. They dont list on more than one exchange in the US. They may list on a US exchange and different foreign stock exchanges. Some companies like Microsoft could meet the listing standards to trade on the NYSE. But they choose to stay on the Nasdaq. Why Samsung doesnt trade on a US exchange is a good question. They are a Korean company and trade on the Korean exchange a couple of others in Europe.

Companies choose and select which exchanges they wish to be listed on provided they meet the listing requirements. They may simply choose not to list on US exchanges.

It costs money to be listed on an exchange.

Samsung is a Korean company. To be listed in the US, they have to agree to do their financial reporting and accounting according to SEC regulations.
