I was uncomfortable early on too….I just started wearing leggings which I thought I would never do. I have one pair of maternity jeans and my non pregnant friend boughta pair too because she just found them super comfortable and very well fitted.
Wear them whenever you want, no one can tell you not too!
Answer by Savannah Stormwhen your own clothes dont feel comfy anymore.Answer by I レo√乇 Mason! My 9-9-09 baby!
Everyone is different… you can wear maternity stuff whenever you want although 6 weeks is really early for it.
I needed a belly band at about 16 weeks to wear with my regular jeans. That worked until I was about 25 weeks along and then I started needing maternity pants. I never wore maternity shirts… I just wore my regular shirts or bought shirts that were billowy or had extra ‘give’ in the belly area.
Answer by DezWhenever you want to:) There are no clothes restrictions! Do what makes you feel comfortable hun!Answer by Britney S
I’m 30 weeks and not wearing any maternity clothing. Why? Because I got rid of everything after my daughter expecting her to be my last and my stupid town pulled out EVERY SINGLE maternity line in their stores, so the next closest place is 45 minutes away.
I did however, buy a Bella Band around 12 weeks and I LOVE it.Answer by Joy
Whenever you feel that you need to. I asked the same question when I first got pregnant, and I was looking for a specific answer. But it appears that there is no specific answer to this question. It depends on so many things: how much you personally grow, the design of your pre-pregnancy pants and where they fit (under waist, or over), how fit your pants were to begin with, etc. etc.Answer by Alison
At only 6 weeks, your clothes not fitting are a result of bloating. Maternity clothes would swallow you at this point. I would get a belly band. I started using the belly band at 8 weeks and it allowed me to wear my pre-pregnancy clothes until 15 weeks. When I made the switch to maternity at 15 everything was still big but SO comfortable!Answer by R.E.
At 6 weeks there is no way you would have gained weight yet. But you may be bloated. Which will soon pass. If this is your first pregnancy you probably won’t need maternity clothes until 22 or more weeks.
I would suggest wearing yoga pants and stretchy stuff for now. Maternity clothes will be huge on you.
I didn’t buy maternity clothes until 8 months with my first and 6 months with my second and current.
Answer by Shaywhen CAN you???? lol whenever u want…its ur body =) buy what makes u feel comfortable. and thats all there is to it. i wore my work uniform with a jacket on for the first couple of months my pants were unzipped underneath lol it was horrible. wear what i want to wear. n congrats!!!Answer by Rachupacabra
You can start getting a belly band now, I did at 7 weeks because my pants were getting tighter. I just went to Old Navy and got a bunch of their maternity yoga pants. I know I’m only 9 weeks but I’m already starting to show for some annoying reason and those are the best! They don’t even look like maternity pants, and I can wear them with dressy shirts so it doesn’t look like I’m wearing work out clothes. And the maternity shirts they make now…a lot of them don’t even look like maternity shirts when you have them on, so you could start wearing them now if you want. I started wearing them because my boobs are HUGE now and they fit my top half so much better.Answer by jlb
The reason your clothes are feeling tight now is bc of bloating. Maternity clothes are going to be way too big for you for several more months (I’m 22 weeks and they are still big on me). Wear some stretchy pants or a belly band but I would hold out on actual maternity clothes for awhile.Answer by Paige
umm well its kinda oviouse that you should wear it when you start to show duhh it think everyone knows that. but i think tight close on the belly is pretty embrase the belly it gods gift!!Answer by le machi
I’ve started using a belly band now that I’m 26 weeks. I use it just for my jeans, and I can wear everything else as normal.Answer by *LaLaGina* Due November 14th
Whenever you start feeling uncomfortable in your regular clothes. I was fine in my regular clothes until my 2nd Trimester, then with the help of a belly band for a couple months. I didn’t get a real ‘supply’ of maternity pants until 7 months along. 3 Capris and 2 pairs of jeans. I didn’t purchase any maternity shirts, as the regular shirts they makes really accommodate a big belly nowadays.

everyone is different, but i would say as soon as your regular clothes are too tight or uncomfortable, you need breathing room in your clothesAnswer by Silverlineh
Start wearing them as soon as you feel you need too.
I know someone i work with got slated for wearing them from 14 weeks cos she was barely showing, but i remember just thinking ‘well if it makes her feel more comfortable whats the problem?’
Really, if your clothes are getting tight you may as well wear maternity clothes, nothing worse than wearing clothes that aren’t comfy 🙂
Answer by MeganIf your not comfortable, start wearing them now! I bought my first maternity shirt at 5 wks.
Just remember to buy them smartly, get them big enough so that you can wear them now at 6 wks, and later down the road at 40 wks =]
You dont want to spend a whole lot of money on maternity clothes, since you’ll only wear them for so long.
CONGRATS, btw. =]
Answer by picklebreathIf you’ve already made the announcement at work, start wearing them as soon as they are what you find more comfortable than your regular clothes.
Of course, with the belly band, you can still wear your regular clothes and most people can’t even tell. I’m 19 weeks right now and wearing my regular jeans with a belly band and since my shirt is long, no one even knows I have it on…
I totally understand where you’re coming from though, 8 weeks deep in my pregnancy I showed up to a family reunion wearing maternity clothes. Not only were they more comfortable, but they allowed me room to enjoy the foods my family prepares when they gather together!
Congratulations!
Answer by Nicole Cournoyerbest bet when your clothes start to feel snug, i asked the same question, because my jean shorts and other pants feel really tight so, i am headed to walmart lol to buy pants that are comfy. 🙂 congrats!!!!!! 😀
