When buying an apartment, how important it is to you if it is on the 3rd floor or on the 1st floor?

jon: When buying an apartment, how important it is to you if it is on the 3rd floor or on the 1st floor?
I am tempted to go for the 3rd floor because once I am in, it has 5 windows within two sides of the building and therefore it is quite sunny, from two windows I see trees and green, while the one on the 1st floor only has only 3 windows and they are all on the same side of the building and so it is a bit gloomier apart from the morning, also the windows only face the street and therefore not much green to be seen..

Another difference is the 3rd floor apartment has 2 bedrooms and 1 living room with small bathroom and kitchen while the 1st floor apartment has
2 bedroom (no living room) but a bigger bathroom (with no window!) and bigger kitchen. The size of the two apartments is roughly the same, the one below being a tad bigger even if it has no living room.

I just can’t decide which one to go for.
A deciding factor could be they are mountain apartments and they both rely on wood stoves for heating.
I guess logging wood up to the 3rd floor isn’t as feasible as logging it to the 1st floor? Lol. The below apartment is a third more expensive, although the money isn’t that much of a problem.

every body need buy aparment in life, because 1st & 3rd floor beetwen best one 3rd floor because it will power, maybe you can feel sun power, sunrise, sunshet also more window fm 1st floor & other facility,

3rd floor will be too noisy, if I have lived at 1st floor so I will be buying 3rd floor. good luck.

Well heat rises, so you might pay less in heat than the 1st floor unit. I personally would take the 3rd floor, but then again, 1st floor units are attractive for people with limited mobility. If you are young and fit and don’t mind the hike, the 3rd floor seems better. If you are elderly, in a wheelchair or have friends with limited mobility, then maybe the 1st floor is a better choice.

If you are on the 1st floor then you will always be listening to your upstairs neighbor stomp around on the floor. If you are on the top floor you won’t hear that. While I’d hate to have to lug groceries up three flights of stairs, I’d take the third floor. More light, more breeze (higher up means more cooler air) larger space and you’d be able to sleep with your windows open because there’d be less chance of someone breaking in on the third floor. If someone is going to break in they are going for the first floor apartment.

3rd floor, it’s a no brainer.

Remember if you live on the 3rd level, you will have to carry groceries up if there is not an elevator. I lived on a 2nd floor and it was a pain.

If the third floor has a roof, there are advantages. You can install downlights, you can have an air extractor on the roof for cooling during hot summer months, and also for the bathroom you can add in heat lamps and an air extractor for the smells to go away. Also, you can do more fixtures and extensions if you have a roof cavity. The disadvantage in living higher up is that heat rises so in summer months, it will be hotter the higher you go. As with security, it doesn’t matter much because I was buglarised in broad day light though i was on the third floor and all the other tenants were witnessing it but did nothing to stop the thief. You need a security front door entrance and a sturdy steel mesh door. In terms of noise, yes, you won’t hear your neighbours stomping which can be irritating. Third floor’s view is nicer but also consider if you’re a vegetable or plant lover, plants do better at ground level because of moisture in the mornings, and the plants are not subjected to stronger winds higher up. The winds actually kill off new buds growing. I noticed my plants never do well on a balcony higher up than my neighbour’s ground floor balcony.
