The name of the holiday is Christmas.

Its so that people who dont celebrate Xmas religously can have one without thinking topo much about it. Xmas trees arnt religous anyway, they were invented (as in the idea of a Crimbo tree) hundreds of years after christmas

My opinion is that when people start censoring the way we speak and walking on egg shells and all that crap so as not to offend someone… it offends me. If you dont celebrate Christmas then fine but me and my house its a frigging Christmas tree.

It doesn’t matter to me what anyone calls them. I am Atheist but it is still a Christmas tree to me…

Since Holiday trees have a pagan origin I am fine with them being called Holiday or Family trees.

I just wish they would be used on some day other than Christmas.

The same goes for other holidays some people celebrate on Dec. 25th.

Nooo – to each their own. There are much larger things to worry about – Christmas trees are not Biblically Christian anyway(that’s just the commercial side of Christmas – only trees around Jesus’s birth were palm trees) and I see nothing wrong at all with many others (non Christians) having them too and just calling them whatever they want. People care way too much about little insignificant things like that.
I’m not sure Jesus Himself would be down with the idea of Christmas trees and all the commercialism that so many seem to care so much about. My granny used to say the 3 wisemen didn’t sit down in the desert and exchange gifts with each other – they took them to Jesus. Christmas Tree? Holiday Tree Family Tree? Whatever – who cares? Not I.

Just another sign that with the changing population, so is the culture. We are letting other people take over our own country. I am not racist and I am not against people coming here to start a new life. Everyone deserves that. But I’m not to thrilled with the very same people who come here from foreign lands saying WE have to adhere to THEM. If I moved to Pakistan, do you think I’d get away with a North American culture? Absolutely not. And I’d know and respect that. What makes these people think we have to change everything around them?

Dr. Bunny and dot&carryone. have made good points. But actually there is more to it than just trying to be inclusive and welcoming to religions other than Christianity. It is not a matter of political correctness. It is a matter of CYA (cover your assets), because if you stuck them up and claimed they were Christmas trees or mabe even Hannukah trees, then someone would sue you and make a big stupid stink in the media. I don’t see why Christianity thinks they can privatize pine trees or olive branches.
Let’s put up the trees in a public place, decorate them with lights and invite people from every faith to place some little decorative ornaments on them in the spirit of goodwill and peace. Them let us tie up all the stupid mullahs of every faith and make them sit in a room together with all the other Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Muslim and other mullahs for not less than six hours to discuss how we are all going to get along and respect each other. Make sure the Webcams are running the whole time.
