If I said we are going out, or I am dating that person, are they the same? If you are dating someone and dating someone else is that cheating?

Well going out can be more casual than dating. Like if you ask someone to “go out” for drinks. That’s what guys might call it before they start using the term “date.”

And yes, since “dating” is a bit more serious and committed than mere “going out,” it would be considered cheating if you were seeing another person simultaneously.

Really depends on who you’re talking. To differentiate is quite frustrating as some may see things differently. To me, to date someone is to be open to seeing other people although you are going on dates with this person. Until they make it official that you’re ‘going out’, it’s not exclusive unless specified.

I say if you are just dating someone and haven’t talked about being exclusive then it’s not considered cheating, as long as the other person KNOWS that the 2 of you aren’t exclusive. Talk about it first and find out what the other person is thinking about your relationship.

Im not 100% sure, but I think dating is like when you guys are having a casual relationship, like a “thing”, but your not actually commited. Going out is when you are considered boyfriend and girlfriend and are in a committed relationship.
No i don’t think dating two people at the same time is cheating, but I think it is disapproved of. 🙂

going out is more of a teenage term. its kind of a less serious way to say it. datings a more serious word, when u say it it means more. not just sum small relationship, but something very important to u.

and yes, wen u are with one person, u shood only b with that person. its cheating to date, kiss, fool around with, or anything with another guy. even flirting with other ppl is considered cheating

It depends on the situation. Some people consider it the same thing, but others don’t. The best thing is to ask the other person what the situation is between the two of you & if it is exclusive. There’s nothing wrong with dating more than one person at a time as long as everyone is aware that this isn’t an exclusive relationship. If they aren’t being told that the other person is dating multiple people, then that isn’t kosher & can be construed as cheating. If one of the people involved aren’t OK with this, they need to tell the other person & if the other person isn’t going to become exclusive then perhaps it is time to find someone new to date.

Yeah they are technically the same thing now days. It used to be different when your parents were kids and you could ask them about that. But yea i consider that cheating, but not its full worth. for example cheating on your wife is much worse then cheating on a date, yet still bad don’t get me wrong. So to answer your question simply, yes if your dating your also going out and considered boy friend and girlfriend, and you shouldn’t date or go on a date with someone else because that would be considered cheating. 🙂
