I think the first thing you need to do when dating someone new is be yourself. Because if your not yourself and your date finds you interesting, they didn’t find you interesting, they found your act interesting and you don’t want to be with someone that you have to put up and act so that they like you. Other than that some rules may include, being on time, and i think getting to know each other honestly.

Treat the other person as if they are the most fascinating person you have ever met. Give them your undivided attention. Turn off the cell phone. Ask them questions about themselves. Don’t complain or unload your baggage. When they ask questions about you, don’t take that as a platform to drone on and on. Answer it and then take it as a cue to get their story. Talk about your passions so that they see what sparks you. Keep it clean and that also applies to your sense of humour. Please have a sense of humour.

Have a little bit of cash so you can share the bill (Male or female)
Have a few conversation starters in mind (You don’t want to just sit and stare)
Dress to the occasion and make sure you have good shoes for outings
Listen carefully and don’t give too much eye contact so it doesn’t seem like you are staring
Try to steer clear of yes and no questions, mostly ask open-ended questions
Always thank them for the good time (even if it was boring)
Fancy dining? Know which fork is for what. In the US we work our way from the outside to in.
If they do something clumsy just smile and reassure them that you don’t mind
