What’s the best way to start tattooing?

Teddyfinch: What’s the best way to start tattooing?
I would LOVE to become a tattoo artist because I love to draw, and I love tattoos themselves. I understand that tattooing someone is marking their body permanently and it is just something I would at least like to look into. Does anyone have any advice?

Do I have to be a great artist to be a tattooer? I know it’s a lot of tracing lines and coloring, but I would just like some advice.

I don’t know about where your from but in Australia it’s an apprenticeship, you have to prove your a good artist to the boss of a shop and they’ll put you on,maybe.

Drawing tattoos is alot different than drawing a picture, the lines can only be so close, it can’t have alot of shading……………………….

you can buy tattoo set ups from ebay for like $ 100 with the inks and gun and motor an instructional dvd and pig skin to practice on

Yes you have to practice, get a job at a tattoo shop, they can teach you alot, also they have tattoo schools, get a kit and practice on fruit and what not
