What would you do if a co-worker (who is my frienemy) has body odor?

Abigail Nadal: What would you do if a co-worker (who is my frienemy) has body odor?
I can smell her from 3 meters away and I can’t help but hold my breath each time she’s around. What sucks is that we’re a team in our department so we’re together most of the time. She uses cologne to mask her odor but it’s no use.

Another co-worker told me to tell her about her odor since we’re teammates and all but I don’t want to offend her.

What to do?

Spray her while she’s not looking!!!!!! lol!

Give her a bunch of body goodies. Lotions, soaps, deodorants, shampoos, etc in a nice gift basket. That way you can deal with her without seeming rude. You can even sign it anonymously to her desk.

You have to tell her. I was a manager and a member of my team had extreme body odour, and the team was complaining, so I had to sit down and tell her she needed to start wearing deodorant because it was offending to others in the team. You can always just buy some deodorant and give it to her to help her get the idea. It will be a hard conversation to have, and she will most likely be offended, but sadly she might not even know she stinks. Also, if the problem is really bad, you can go to the doctor and they can actually prescribe things that may help.

Mention it to your manager. I am sure it is part of the workplace dress code, in some way.

frienemy? how old are we lol

just tell her.. but in as polite a way as possible. I’d rather someone tell me i smelled bad then have strange looks all day.

Just ignore it. I did when a guy at a store smelled like urine. If you can’t, tell the supervisors to get everyone together to tell people to take a bath as well as use deodorant/cologne before they come to work. That way they won’t be talking to her directly but she will get the hint.

lol omg we had a boy at our job who smelled bad & sweated alot I would hold my breath when he walked past or would tell him to please stay away from me he would make me mad that was my excuse to not have to work by him.So this girl knew I had spray she took it from me & sprayed him as he was taking an order & he looked out the corner of his eye as she did it it was hilarious.

He said that he was going to come back & kill both of us & her baby since she was preg at the time.

I would just say “Im sorry im not trying to sound rude but a few people notice a strong scent on your clothes that smells kinda bad & ask her does she use powder & say powder would probaly work just to have something to hint around… or put it in your own words

Answer by Fabio
Say something like “there is a strange smell here” every time you are next to her… finally she will get it!
