pea in a pod: What would happen to religion if aliens were discovered?
So let’s say we find them
or they find us
and at first we are peaceful towards each other.
Then we discover they have religions completely unheard of to the human race.
How would your religion/faith/Atheism explain or deal with this?

It would not make any difference. The rest of the Universe of evidence that their beliefs are incorrect has not made any difference to them, has it?
That is the thing about religions. They do not change in accordance with new information.
Answer by Half_Proud_AmericanIt would mean the aliens were as dumb as us (unless their religion actually had good reasons for being there)Answer by Blake
It would give credibility to Angels, Demons, Ezekiel, Zachariah, parting of the Red Sea, and the rapture.
I don’t know about religion but, the Bible talks about aliens throughout. It just calls them “Angels of the heavens”
Answer by laslo.kovacsWell it depends what they believe. If they believed in a God completely alien to us then I’d just presume they made up their God like we have been making up ours throughout history.
If they don’t have a God, then I’d presume that explains how they traveled through space to get here rather than sit home in animal furs arguing over gay marriage or which of the 9000 versions of the Koran are correct.

Religion will not go away. If a religion teaches that there are no extraterrestrial aliens but some show up, the religion will change the explanations. That’s what they have always done when proven wrong.

Once we get past the shock of “Holy sh**, aliens!”, then idk. I suppose even if we find aliens, we’ll still think scientology is a joke.Answer by Free at last
If they had the wherewithal to get here, I think they’d have a much better handle on the nature of the universe than any man-made religion.Answer by Waterbender.
I would hope that the aliens would not find it in their religion to kill us….much like ours teach.Answer by seeker
What would happen to religion? Well the religious zealots would probably just think they’re demons or something, who knows what they’d do. They’d be terrified though. As for the aliens having a religion, that would mean the notion of “intelligent life” outside of Planet Earth goes down the drain. What a shame that would be.Answer by Boɳɛs
Depends on the religion.
I’m pretty sure most of them would adapt their worldview to fit in aliens.
Answer by Joe FIt would not affect my beliefs, the reason being, The Bible does not say there is or is not aliens or life forms in other parts of the universe, the Bible deals with human history and their relationship with mankind specifically. So the existence of aliens neither proves or disproves GOD’s existence.
I think it would be funny if aliens told humans GOD was real. Then again they may be in the same quandry as mankind part of them believing in HIM and part of them not.Answer by lantern swinger
It already has. In Genesis 6, the “sons of God” were intermarrying with the daughters of men. In the book of Enoch, which is not in the canon of scripture, but is referenced in the Bible, fallen “watchers” are described as bringing the secrets of heaven to earth prior to the flood.
Thus, what we see today (abductions with sexual experiments) and an explosion in technology coinciding roughly to the time UFOs began to appear, is already described in the Bible, and has already happened once. Jesus said as the days of Noah were, so would the days of His coming be.
So, when they come claiming to be intelligent life from other planets, I am already expecting it, and expecting the gullible world to fall for it, and fall for whatever deception they try to pull off.
Come on, would you really believe a race of beings that have reportedly come to houses in the middle of the night and kidnapped and raped people?
Answer by https://www.bible-reviews.com1) What would happen to religion if aliens were discovered?
Assuming that you mean intelligent extraterrestrials:
Our religion would be introduced to them.
Their religion would be introduced to us.
Some humans would create a new religion worshiping the aliens.
Probably the aliens would create a new religion worshiping humans.
2) and at first we are peaceful towards each other.
Then we discover they have religions completely unheard of to the human race.
Expected and no doubt these new religions would become the new fad of Earth (and likewise with the aliens, assuming that they succumb to things such as fads)
3) How would your religion/faith/Atheism explain or deal with this?
My religion (Christianity) has no need to explain this. It is quite in-line with the tenets of Christianity. Many Christians would deal with it by attempting to evangelize the aliens.

Answer by Legend™that’s a good question. the first thing we would need to learn how to do is communicate with them which i think will not be able to happen without an all out intergalatic war or something of the sort. they would probably win and then the humans that are left alive will probably be put to work for the aliens or taken back as a food source for who knows what kind of creatures they may have and then after all that they would take our religions and if they have the capability of laughing, laugh at them and make us all start worshipping their gods and such and kill those that do not.Answer by D700 dug
Atheism would accept that they had a different belief system and be interested in hearing what they based their beliefs on.
Fundie Christians and Muslims would probably want to convert them and then go to war with them if they did not believe in Jesus or Allah.
Nothing would change 🙁
Answer by Tardacusthe christians would try to convert the aliensAnswer by Paula
We would just try to convert them to our religion, whatever it is.
Personally I think that God is capable of having other worlds out there,
it wouldn’t shake my faith.Answer by Cosar
Atheism wouldn’t need to explain itself.
But religions would immediately implode.Answer by Severus8
Assuming that the alien race had a religion. But more important would be to know if the relationship with them improved our lives at a significant degree. This day and age the human race knows better than to worship anything that comes falling into our atmosphere, then again… If we live at peace with them the only thing that would change that relationship would be to discover that they wants os as food or any exploitative scenario which would sever trust.Answer by AGGY™ 2nd ✗Coming
they would make up BS and excuses
while the aliens eat pope benny’s head
Answer by little owlIt wouldnt make any difference to me as a christian. If you read Ephesians chapter 5 in the bible you will see that it says our enemies are not people made of flesh and blood like us but by ….”persons without bodies, the evil rulers of the unseen world, those mighty satanic beings and great evil princes of darkness who rule this world, and against huge numbers of wicked spirits in the spirit world” There are enormous numbers of evil spirits working overtime in our world – just look at the really terrible things happening all over the planet. Make sense?
God created the entire universe – but the above spirit beings are powerful and lots of people are deceived – dont be one of them.Answer by Godsproblemchild
The new covenant in Jesus Christ is for the children of Adam and Eve.
