jdg: What would be a good present for someone taking comprehensive exams?
This is for my girlfriend. She’s taking PhD comprehensive exams next week. For those who don’t know, comprehensive exams are exams over anything related to the PhD program. Passing the exams is the second to last step before finishing the PhD. You don’t have to take any more classes after this step. All that is left is the dissertation. Anybody have good ideas for a congratulations present? I thought flowers and a card, but I am looking for something a bit more focused/original. Get crazy!
