My friend smokes marijuana. He has an upcoming doctor’s appointment and is freaking out about having to get a drug test. He smokes it once or twice a week. Why would a teenager need a drug test aside from parents wanting it done?

Sports- my district wants to start doing them randomly to sports teams, since Marijuana stays in your system for at least a month, my ENTIRE school is probably going to fail.

maybe for a job or a simple part time job, but he still has the right to choose of getting it done or not, he is not obbligated to get one, is like somebody forcing you to have a blood test done to find out if you have hiv, is your choice!!!!! is part of privacy and u have the right to choose

Unless he is just a child, it is court ordered, from some trouble he has already been in. He will fail and have to finish his probation time, or maybe worse! Depends on why he is prohibited from drug usage.

Drug tests are not done at routine doctors visits. The doctor may have blood drawn and/or do a urinalysis but that will not be for drugs. Drugs tests are not free and they are not ordered when it is not needed.

A drug test is very routinely done in an emergency department, for hospital admission, for work, when a person is taking a controlled substance their doctor may require random drug tests, and when there is cause to do a drug test it may be done.

Your friend, however, would be smart to tell the doctor about using marijuana. The infomration is confidential (his parents won’t be told nor will law enforcement be involved) and the doctor can’t properly evaluate him without knowing all the facts. He will probably be directly asked if he used any illegal substances.

He could be introuble with cops, he might have something physically wrong with him and their testing weed for the cause, he takes classes and isnt supposed to, they suspect it? Dude, dont even worry its not really your problem, tell him to take two niacin, wait for a red body sensation and drink hella water, then he’ll be all sober. Or he could go to a health market and get sober tea. I think its called golden tea? Not fersure..
