I am going to get the hauppauge hd pvr and i want to know what is the best desktop for recording videos.Like whats is the best because i know ALIENWARE is best for gaming. And could you also but like if i should upgrade the proccesor or the RAM on the desktop.

Alienware is not best for gaming they just provide higher quality machines but not necessarily at a great price.

Honestly an Alienware desktop has some of the essentials that you would want to find in a good video rig, i.e. large amounts of ram, fast cpu, and good quality video card.

You can find computers with the same specs from Dell and Lenovo, these would be the two brands I would suggest. If you have the money get an I5 or I7 family of processor, 4-8 gigs of ram, a 1-2 TB hard drive (video takes lots of hard drive space), and finally get a good video card, when shopping for video cards remember that the amount of ram by no means indicates the performance of the card.

What software is best for editing video’s? Good

There isn’t really an answer to your question, except- Get the biggest fastest processor you can afford, load it with all the RAM it can hold, and get the biggest baddest Video Card it can mount or you can afford.

PC is a PC, just spec it as much as you can afford.
