Well, to start off, ballet shoes of course. I suggest split sole because they let your arch become better than full soles. But, depending on studio, they may prefer full soles to strengthen your arch. I suggest getting in contact with your studio or just buying a split sole shoe.
For the dress code, wear a leotard. Depending on the studio, they may want a black one if they’re more strict. Buying a black leotard is a safe bet.
For tights, pink is a safe choice. Most studios prefer pink tights than other colors.
You can put a short pair of shorts on and a form-fitting t-shirt on for class if your studio isn’t that strict. Just be sure to make sure they aren’t baggy. The teachers like to see hip rotation and things like that. If they are strict, however, you can just take the extra clothes off.
You should buy a pair of leg-warmers for barre work. They help keep your muscles warm and less prone to injury.
ALWAYS have your hair up in a ponytail. Bangs must be pulled back unless they are out of your eyes (ex. full bangs). Keeping stray hairs away is a must when dancing.
I hope I helped! Good luck! x
If you’re studio has an office manager or someone to answer any questions you have, call them and ask about recommendations- the instructor may have a specific brand/color/style in mind. If not, check out discountdance.com I’ve had capezio, sansha, revololution, and leo ballet shoes in the past. You can consider leather or canvas; it depends on your preference. Pilates are undoubtedly your answer.Answer by Gianna B
