Confused: What to major in to become a crime scene investigator?
im undecided in college. i just finished my freshman year and the 101 required classes. I want to become a crime scene investigator, so i was wondering what majors would work to help me get into something like that? I know forensics is a good one, but not many colleges offer this, so are there any other majors to help get me into a criminal investigation field?
is criminology an option? / how is criminology different from criminal justice?

Check to see if your college offers a Criminal Justice major. If it does, you could get your undergrad degree in that and possibly go for a masters in Forensics if you are interested in Grad school.
If a Criminal Justice degree is not offered or just not your thing…
Major in either Biology or Chemistry, or even Anthropology. I had the opportunity to talk with a Forensic Scientist a few years ago…she told me that if you want to succeed in the feild, you’re better off getting your degree in something broad like Bio or Chem, so that you have a strong basis of knowledge to build off of and fall back on. It could also provide you with a wider range of career options in the future.
Good luck!
Answer by iSpeakTheTruthBest majors are in the hard sciences, engineering, or accounting. Computer science as well.
Language specialists are also in high demand. If you can rack up more than couple languages fluently then you’re golden.
Avoid social science majors such as criminal justice – they are laughed at in the law enforcement community since they teach you nothing of skill.
Overall, agencies want you to bring them a true skill to contribute.
