My company currently does not retain any records on its clients. We are looking to find a software application where we can store those records (personal information, contact, activities, sales, etc.) and then operate from there as well as new opportunities arise. Would a CRM work best here? Most of the CRMs I am seeing are sales orientated.

You could go for a free open source database instead. MySQL 5.0 is a good option, though with databases you would have to create tables and store your requisite data in them, in your case it seems to be like customer details.

Note – The enterprise edition of MySQL is not free.
