My friends are booked at the Outrigger Reef hotel (2169 Kalia Rd.) in Waikiki.
What other hotels are nearby within walking distance that I might check into staying at? I would like to stay as close as possible but maybe find a more affordable hotel to reserve.

If I remember correctly (it’s been a year since I was there) the Royal Hawaiian (expensive) is near it, the Embassy Suites, Halekulani (but it’s pricey). Try calling the hotel to see what else is close. But I would try to get a room at Outrigger; it’s right on the beach and when we were there last Feb. the hotel was getting remodeled so it’s probably complete by now.

The Aston Waikiki Joy Hotel is right down the street, and is really cheap.

Halekulani, Waikiki Parc Hotel, Embassy Suites, Sheraton Waikiki, Royal Hawaiian (If you have lots of money).
