ceceruby: What makes the 90s Nickolodeon and Cartoon Network unique from today?
I really miss the cartoons from the 90s when I was growing up. What makes the shows on Nickolodeon & Cartoon Network different from those today? What was your favorite show and made it special?

cartoons today are loud and obnoxious. back then the humor was better and you didnt get a headache after watching a cartoon. I enjoyed old school rugrats, rocco’s modern life, and ren and stimpy
The ones before did have great humor and the plots make sense. If you look at the shows on today like The Misadventures of Flapjack it is really ridiculous. The shows I used to love were Rugrats and Rocketpower and Pinky and The Brain but now they have all been replaced by shows that make no sense.Answer by proham

the shows knew how to be popular without being constantly loud. Ren and Stimpy was probably my favorite. and roccos modern life.Answer by Bob B
Many, many things.
I think that CGI is phasing out tradition animation. I think that more emphasis is put on attention-grabbing visuals and 3D animation rather than actual content. It’s also why I think kids today have much shorter attention spans.
I think cartoonnetwork was soooo, packed up with good shows and memorable characters. It was like cartoon heaven lol.
Remember, the “Coming Up Next” animation bumpers and “We’ll Be Right Back” ones where the cartoonnetwork logo would be in some animated situation.
There was also Cartoon Cartoon Fridays where a different character would host each week. For action Toonami would come on with great anime like Rurouni Kenshin (best show ever!), Dragonball-Z, Samurai Jack…
Then there would be classic toons like Bugs Bunny and Tom & Jerry which were HILARIOUS.
And also Cartoonnetwork’s Cartoon Theatre had the best movies like the Dexter movie where he travelled to the future, as well as Balto, Fible, and much more.
I am getting off track but basically I think today’s animation is more fast paced, and attention grabbing and the 90s cartoons were very well written and thought out.
