Richard: What makes one religion true and all others false?
All religions claim to be the one true faith and all that crap. What makes people think their faith is the right one and all others are wrong? And don’t just say “My holy book says so”. Every religion has a holy book that says that.
Let’s make this perfectly clear: Quotes from the bible do not prove that the bible is correct. You could quote a line from a comic that says spiderman is real. That doesn’t mean it’s true.

First every religion doesn’t have a holy book that says they’re the one true religion. The thing that makes one religion the ‘true’ religion is one’s belief in that book. If you’re told all your life that Christianity is truth then it will be truth for you. Personally I believe that Christianity is truth and it is truth for me. I can’t convince you that it is truth because you have to take that personal step for yourself. So it may not be true for you.Answer by rumors with no basis in reality

You just don’t get it…if my Holy Book sez it’s true then it’s true….if it says it’s not, then it ‘snot.Answer by CC
Of course it depends on in which religion you belong at the time.
At any one time, the religion in which you belong is the true one, and therefore, all others are false. This is a self-evident tautology.
Answer by JimWhen the founder of that religion can make the valid and provable claim that He has come down from heaven to reveal the truth of God to man.
Any guesses who that might be? Read John 1:18; 3:13
Answer by SemajReligion is a man-made item. It is going to contain a certain percentage of truth and a certain percentage of flaws just as all man-made items do. People that know would say I am religious (I am Islamic), that my ‘religion’ is Islam. But in a sense I do not practice a religion per say but more a way of life. How do I prove I am following a true way of life? In the short version my answer would be because my way of life can pass more tests because teachings I have adopted contain less contradictions than other “religions”.Answer by TheUniversalLoveOfGod
Richard, that is a great, honest, and valid question.
I believe all religions contain Truth.
If the Divine is One, then His/Her/Its message is indeed One.
I believe God has many names, including Jesus Christ, Sri Krishna, the Buddha, the Tao, etc. but is One. 🙂
To me, the point is that the Divine loves you unconditionally, dwells in your heart, and for you to have love and compassion on others.
I believe God loves you unconditionally, no matter what your background is or what you have done, that your heart is God’s temple, and that you are God’s precious child. 🙂
All the best to you, my friend.
In God’s love.
Each religion thinks it is the one true faith and others are false. It is impossible to prove which is true, so the only thing that makes a religion true is the faith of its believers.
Summary: Every religion is true for its believers and true only for its believers. Every religion is false for its non believers and false only for its non believers. There is no universally true or false religion.
