What makes football/soccer players unique from other athletes from different events?

aks21: What makes football/soccer players unique from other athletes from different events?
here in the Philippines, there are only few people who play football/soccer.. i just wanna know what is unique from being a football/soccer player. what makes them different from other sports? How can you differentiate a football player from athletes of different events?

Football players are better, because they play the best sport. American football or rugby players are big lumps of meat. The best players in those sports are like bears. In football the greatest players are the most intelligent and most technical. Zinedine Zidane, Diego Maradona (not so much because of cocaine) Pele, Andres Iniesta, and my personal favourite – Laurent Robert.
