volleychick11: What kind of guitar is a good one for a learner?
I am thinking about buying a guitar, i’ve never been in lessons or had guidance before…I have been playing my friend’s guitar and I learned how to play Taylor Swift’s Love Story.
Anyways, what brand guitar would you recommend? I am looking on ebay, craigslist, etc. I would like it to not be super expensive, but with good quality…?
Thanks!.
wow…i forgot to add acoustic!!!!! please!

A basic fender stratocaster is always a good one to start off with. It’s cheap and has a good comfortable feel for a beginner.
a act one there not that high priced..Answer by joe_schmmo
Acoustic, bar none. Brand shouldn’t matter much. You need to develop Your technique first, and that’s hard to do when You use wah-wah, fuzz, distortion, Pro-tools etc.
Also, it’s KINDA okay now, since You’re new, but avoid playing other People’s music. Learn how to compose Your own music. Be original, and not sheeple.
Answer by umm;i used the “Taylor Baby Taylor Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar” when i was a beginner, and it’s reallyyy amazing.
it’s $ 299.00, but it’s really worth it. it’s small, so it’s easier to bring places.
good luck! (:
Answer by baxtervilleThe best thing you could do is go to a guitar store and test drive a bunch of different guitars, since each will have its own feel. Since you’re a beginner, you’ll probably want a guitar with a thin neck and low action (the distance between the strings and the fretboard), which will make it easier (and less painful) to move around between chords and notes.
Ibanez makes fantastic guitars that are built like rocks, sound great, and are often nicer than guitars costing twice as much. They’ve also got really thin necks, which makes them comfortable for beginners and people with small hands to play. Jasmine by Takamine guitars are also great for beginners and priced great. Lots of beginners choose Epiphone because the brand is so respected, but the necks tend to be chunky, which can make them challenging to play. But since there’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all guitar, you won’t really know which guitar is ideal for you until you play a bunch of them.
If you want to do some research before going to a store, Musician’s Friend is a great resource. You can search by brand, price or customer rating. Customers also post reviews that will give you a good idea which guitars are user-friendly and which ones have “issues” that make them difficult to play or keep in tune. Here’s a link:

The most important thing is to choose a guitar that feels really comfortable and natural in your hands. Be sure to play them sitting down, since that’s probably how you’ll practice. The more comfortable you are with your guitar, the more inclined you’ll be to practice and the sooner you’ll become a great guitarist. Good luck!
