Rebecca W: What is your stance on gay marriage and what are your reasons?
The rules are you cannot comprise your reason with any religious logic. When I say marriage I am speaking of the cut and dry laws that would surround the subject. This means I also don’t want answers that just say “Because its gross!”. In addition I’ve also found many trying to give me the cut and dry no by stating that it would create tax loopholes. Reality: A man and a woman could create the same loopholes just as easily so none of that thank you very much.
Procede in your answering. I am trying to look at this from a fair unbiased prospective and so far I can’t come up with any reasons why gay marriage shouldn’t be legal. If you can make a fair arguement otherwise, I welcome your answer.
I’m not saying anyone’s religion is wrong ,but it shouldn’t play a part in the legalities of the situation. If Athiests are allowed marriage, why not gays? This is the arguement used for why marriage is a sacred bond between man and wife ,but marriage ,whether you like it or not, is a legal oath taken by two individualsa and by law is not influence by religion. This is my reasoning for trying to exclude religious viewpoints. I am being very unbiased.
It is unbiased because too many people would like to passionify their answer to make a big deal about it. I’m simply stating to use raw logic without emotion. This means I’m asking you to also be unbiased.
Its like saying “Chocolate is better than vanilla”. This cannot be proven ,but anyone can have an opinion on the subject. Its just that; I don’t want opinions. I want cold hard facts and logic.
The difference between gay couples and sex predators is that they are acting willingly on both sides. Yes, there is gay rape and that is a crime ,but two people of consenting age going into that situation is nothing more than sex whether it be gay or straight. I bet many people think that morbidly obese people having sex is “gross” ,but I’m pretty sure there have been no rallies to keep them from marrying. Get it?
There are many straight couples that are unable to reproduce. Just a tip, I’m not gay or anything like that. I’m just looking for a logical answer for the LAW side of this situation. Whether a couple marries or not they will probably still be together so lets speak in hypothetical terms. Say we’re speaking in terms of calling gays birds and straights bees.(just sticking with the classic format here) I can fully understand not liking something ,but I’m about doing what is right without the “like factor” involved. For example: I don’t like pickles ,but I’m not going stop anyone else from eating them.

i believe that if a man and man or a woman and a woman love each other they are as capable to proving that with being married as a normal man and woman. Marriage is to proclaim ones love for one another, and I don’t see any reason to neglect that based on their sex. I mean would you not marry someone just because of their race? It’s the same kind of thing.
The bible says it’s wrong. Initially it was a man and wowan that God created not two women or two men. In that case there would not be anyone on the earth to multiply.Answer by John16
I don’t think your question is entirely fair. People have a right to their opinion and they can base it on their faith if they so choose. Like it or not, most religions say the homosexuality is wrong.
That’s OK with me. I don’t need approval of others. That’s the great thing about being a gay conservative Republican. I can do what I want and I don’t need permission to do it. Unlike liberals.
That said, I am all for it. I was in favor of it even when I was in the closet.
There is no reason not to do it and plenty of reasons why its time to accept gays in the mainstream of society. The bottom line is that recognizing gay rights comes at the expense of no one Else’s rights. Just like with the Blacks and with women.
Life went on after they got their rights pretty much as it did before.

Answer by jammiemead2002Because marriage is a basic human right and an individual personal choice, RESOLVED, the State should not interfere with same-gender couples who choose to marry and share fully an equally in the rights, responsibilities, and commitment of civil marriage.Answer by Mario B
love knows no boundaries…and the government has no business telling anyone who they should love, and that to love someone of the same sex is wrong. heck, 50+% of hetero marriages end in divorce, can allowing gay marriages be any worse? if God didn’t believe it was alright, would he/she really have created gays? love is one of the purest of all emotions, this isn’t even a topic that government should be sticking their noses in, and for anyone who doesn’t believe in gay marriages, don’t marry someone gay!
hey john16…i’m confused what liberals need permission…who’re the ones that keep bringing this up in the first place…duh…the conservatives!!
Answer by kobacker59I see no reason whatsoever to deny people the right to marry if they are of legal age to enter into marriage. Among other things, marriage stablizes society, what could be better for society as a whole?Answer by Stanitruk
How can you get an un biased answer when you put so many rules on the answers. This is as ridiculous a question I’ve ever seen on here.
That’s like asking, “why is black not white”? and suggesting, no scientific answers please.
No prospective or religious belief should matter in this issue. Best resolve would be to put it up for vote and let the majority of the people rule on this issue.Answer by irish_3078
gay marriage should be legal, no questions asked. what does it hurt, really? people who are gay deserve the same rights as anyone else. one’s sexuality makes him or her no less worthy of equal treatment under the letter of the law.
i do, however, feel that the laws surrounding marriage need to be tightened a bit. it’s much harder for people to divorce than it is for them to marry. that makes no sense. i think it should be switched. i feel that if people (gay, straight or otherwise) were made to go through mandatory counseling or testing of some sort prior to saying their vows, they would value the institution of marriage that much more. then, if the marriage doesn’t work out for whatever reason the divorce should be quick and a bit easier.
gay marriage does nothing to hurt society or create any sort of unjust treatment. if two men or two women are ready to make the sort of commitment needed to make a marriage work, i say let them. love is never wrong.
Answer by ally_oop_64I am against it because its just plain wrong, and that’s all their is to it. Homosexuality is a sick perversion. In life you have to do what is right and proper. Having good morales is a step in the right direction. I really don’t think you can look at this the way you want to or if you should even try. The way I see it, homosexuals are right there in the same category as sexual predators and other sexual criminals. Seems to me you are trying to take something that is very much wrong and rationalize it into being “ok”. You can’t do that if you have any humanity or decency in you. Gay marriage and homosexuality is wrong and always will be inspite of anything that supports it or tries to make it right.
Do you even know why people become gay. Its not because of genetics. Once you know that, then you will know that they can be brought back to normal, and that there is no reason why anyone would want to be that way. Being gay is wrong!Answer by 75160
If you want to take the bible out of it, then just look at nature. It does not work by the laws of nature. This is another situation where the term “freak of nature” applies. Not only can gays NOT reproduce naturally, the organs don’t exist between 2 men (or 2 women) in a relationship to make the reproductive process work. With that said, I do have to say not only is it gross, it is disgusting. It as just a sick as any other perverted sex act and should be a crime itself. Lets face it the sickos that molested, fondle and rape little girls claim they are born with these sick and twisted desires, just like the gays claim they are born with sick and twisted desires. Do we want to become a society that gives in to special interest groups that want support for freaky desires? I sure hope not.
Sunshine: I did acknowledge there are “freaks of nature”. Even mother nature is not 100% prefect.
Gitggity: I don’t get it. Are the reproductive organs present in a male to female relationship? Even if they are obese (which yes, that too may be gross) it does not defy the way men and women were made for the purpose of reproduction. Sex for any other reason is just human pleasure, fun and entertainment. Why do we need special interest groups, special rights or anything else “special” to make sick people think they fit in? The body parts do not support it for a reason, plain and simple.
Answer by SunshinePersonally,
I think it is gross. I know you said not to say that but listen to me before you judge. The idea of two men or women having sex does disgust me. Though, I know it’s their RIGHT to do so. I’m for gay rights. I just hate it when I tell people I find it disgusting and the gay-rights people get all offended. Look, gay-rights is still a touchy subject and of course I’m for gay-rights, but let me be disgusted, it’s going to take more generations before it’s more accepted.
But if you want a reason why it SHOULDN’T be legal you’re going to have a difficult time. The reasons people dislike it is only because of religion or their own dislike of it. You’re going to have to be accepting and understanding and let people feel that way. Telling them they can’t give that as an answer is kind of unfair. But it’s your question. And that was my answer.
{EDIT}
To the woman above me, it IS in nature. There are species of apes that have gay sex. Sex to them is a form of greeting. Thanks Animal Planet!
The primary and most basic reason for marriage is to propagate the species, in other words, to reproduce and continue the presence of the species on the planet. This is normal from the smallest creatures to the largest. Without the ability to physically perform the act for the purpose of reproduction, the union is not only illogical but useless.Answer by fr_chuck
First of course it does not matter if you want or don’t want a religious answer, the truth is most of America still has some religious beleifs, Muslim, Christian, Jewish,
All of which have beleifs agaisnt homosexual behavior. and they would like to ban homosexual behavior, not just marriage
But the main reason is that the majority of Americans don’t want it, and in every state, (everyone) where it has come up for a vote, it has been voted down in big numbers.
So that is the reason, it should not be because the majority of Americans don’t want it.
