Katie: What is the style of dancing in high school musical 3?
I’d really like to take lessons, but I don’t know where to start. I want to take from a good dance teacher also. I don’t know what kind of dancing to sign up for. I guess some jazz and ballroom dancing would work. Any other sugggestions?

Its blend… musical theatre style dance draws largely on jazz, varying on the production. If you can get into/find a “musical theatre dance” class, that’s what you’re looking for. Otherwise, jazz is a great start. 🙂
The dancing tends to be a cross between jazz and hip-hop. It is very much made for pop/upbeat songs. While ballet is the base for all dance, jazz is a good place to start too and a basic hip-hop class could be something you would be interested in to. Plus most studios that offer jazz and hip-hop, the hip-hop class will often be more “jazz” similar to HSM rather then taking from a complete hip-hop studio.
If you do plan on using this dance training for performance/musicals you might want to take tap classes. There are always great oppurtunities as a tap dancer in musicals.
Hope this helped :]

Search google and find more than one type of dance class. If you are strapped for cash and can only afford one class ask some companies to go to the lesson for 1 day and see how you like it. Then pick your favourite
