Eddie: What is the reason behind the bride and groom sleeping separately before the wedding?
I always see and hear that the bride and groom are not allowed to sleep together before the wedding. Why is this? What is the meaning to this tradition?

Answer by Carnival_Ride_09A long time ago, before chastity was dead, couples weren’t EVER allowed to sleep in the same room before they were married. Now, it’s just tradition.
Plus, I’m not sure if it goes along with the groom not seeing the dress before the wedding or something (???), but it’s just strictly not cool for the pair to see each other on their wedding day prior to the ceremony, so they can’t wake up in the same bed. Theoretically, the bride could leave the room at midnight if she wanted to, but that’d be dumb.
Answer by *Miss_Autumn*It used to be that the couple didn’t even meet each other for the first time until their wedding day. The groom didn’t even know what she looked like until the veil was removed during the consumation at the end of the night. Nowadays, people continue to follow the tradition of not seeing each other because they think that their marriage will be doomed if they don’t.Answer by Claire
It is so the bride in particular can be a virgin on her wedding night, so the groom can be sure there’s no chance of a child from another father about to arrive in a few months.
