conni: What is the proper way to dispose of a Bible that is falling apart?
My friend has a Bible that is literally falling apart–the pages have come loose and are falling out. She doesn’t want to spend the money to have it rebound, and she also doesn’t feel comfortable throwing the Bible into the garbage can. They burn American flags to dispose of them. So, is there a proper way to dispose of a worn-out Bible?

It’s just a bunch of paper with words on it – don’t be afraid to burn it or throw it in the trash. But, why not just hang on to it? I still have my first bible that is all torn up and falling apart. I depend on it once in a while to find something in it because I know it so well. I have had my new one for a few years now and still am not as used to it as my first one.Answer by Elijah
keep it…never throw away a bible….

Some of the answers here are really interesting. The ones I know tend to put it back on the shelf, and not use it again. You might want to call the Library and ask what they do, especially if it’s one that is greatly valued. Care can be taken to ‘tape it back up’ as I have seen done. You may want to put a date on when it was purchased, and when it got to that point in it’s condition. Asking a pastor may be helpful too. A Christian school librarian ? maybe able to help you as well, as they may have a place for such as well. Wrapping it up perhaps as with the right kind of a cloth ? maybe ? The idea of placing it with a loved one who has died i.e. their coffin who knows the Lord is an interesting concept, and perhaps an indication of a Christian life well lived . Sharing with the children, i.e. or grand kids and explaining to them would also be ideal as to the spiritual value that it has. If it is like that, you may also want to send it to the ministry that uses Bibles and let them take care of it, as there are those that will make use of them for the better advantage. People in foreign countries are hungry for the Scriptures, and ministries are out there to share the Bible with them. If it’s in pages, that are coming out of the binding, it’s valuable to those who can’t have the whole Bible, due to the ‘countries’ restrictions, and if a congregation can have such, then each one can be able to have a page, or two as such and share it when they get to meet together. It’s like the body of Christ meeting together with the Word of God . Just a thought but hope that is of some help to you.Answer by David Pratt

17. Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.
18. When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked [man] shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
19. Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
20. Again, When a righteous [man] doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
21. Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous [man], that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.

Answer by Puppy Power!I don’t know. The last Bible I had that could have worn out got stolen by some guy for the ten or so dollars of tithe money in it.
He was also stealing people credit cards and checks in the house I was living in.
When the guy who owned the house discovered the thief’s stash, he would have been merciful and not reported him to the police. However, since he found my Bible among the stolen articles, and he realized the guy would even steal a Bible, he did report him to the police, and the guy went back to prison, for years. So, the moral of the story, is don’t be such an idiot that you would even steal a Bible, but I don’t know the proper way to dispose of a Bible that is falling apart. My last Bible didn’t get the chance to fall apart for me to ever be curious enough to ask someone.Answer by SoonerBorNbred
I would sooner burn alive than burn The Word of God. Duct tape works great, as well as bookstores preservation methods. Encourage her to replace her Bible by transferring all notes, tabs, and underlined passages to a Bible of the same version. As for the disheveled Bible, I would place The Word in a leather bound cover, or a in durable, protective casing in safe storage. A worthy family heirloom your future lineage can inherit. Remember, The Gospel is not a book at all, but the Living Word of God. It is the Key of Life, thus used to enable our access into a direct/personal relationship w/ the Savior Jesus Christ. His Holy Spirit dwells in us, as promised by Christ, to be our covering of protection. His Sword & Fruit lead’s us in Preparation of the Gospel, then on to our destiny according to His Will.
