Non-Redneck: What is the mental condition where the mother tries to keep a child from maturing?
I’m trying to find the name of a mental condition where the mother doesn’t let her children mature and become independent, but rather tries to keep them mentally as children in order to continue being a mother to them.

I’m not referring to a clingy mother. I’m referring to a literal refusal of the mom to let the children mature. So this becomes child abuse.

could be facticious disorder. mothers are prone to it.

It’s simply called “Mental”….I used to work with one. Her POOR Children! She made ME Nuts just listening to her.
