How do you think the internet affected politics in this past decade ? I’ve been thinking about this question for weeks now, and I think the internet has a major effect on today’s politics. I’m wondering if what I’m saying is true.

I’m trying to write an article on this, but I’m going to need some examples on how the internet really affected politics. Anyone have a say on this ?

It has helped to level the playing field for candidates without resources and to allow candidates to raise money from smaller donors on a national scale. It has also made it easier for political campaigns to astroturf candidates by paying workers to pretend they are just average citizens.

I think the big effect that the Internet has had on politics is that we have a lot more access to information than we used to. You used to have to tune in to the evening news at 5 o’clock to see what politicians were up to. Now, you can see and hear their every word on YouTube at any time at all, because someone is using their cell phone to record everything at any given campaign stop.

With the Internet, issues are much harder to sweep under the rug. Users have the ability to post and share the content they want, rather than a centralized news-media network choosing entirely what content to distribute.

we have..@ our finger tips..the most information human beings have ever had in the history of humanity….in seconds we can recall, and view remarks, speeches, mannerisms. answers, and yet…

not all of it is accurate…

The internet is a double-edged sword. Sure, it allows valid information to flow much more freely, however one must remember that the internet has spawned much lunacy on the world.

Without the internet, I’m sure we would not have anti-vaccinationists, and 9/11 “Truthers”, to name a few.

In other words, the internet also gives a forum to any half-wit and/or ‘tin foil hat’ nut that can make the IQ level of the world drop, almost single handedly.
