Hope: what is the difference between rugby cleats and baseball cleats?
I play rugby and need cleats. I just want to know if I need to buy cleats that are specifically built for rugby or can I just get any kind of cleats?
BTW, I am a forward. I dont know if that makes a difference or not.

You can buy studded boots specifically made for rugby, and most rugby players do, but it’s not required. The studs tend to be wider and rounder than those for other sports. Soccer boots are also acceptable, particularly if you end up playing in one of the back positions. Some backs actually keep a pair of bladed soccer boots in their kit for use on a hard dry pitch.
American football boots are not acceptable because they have studs directly under the toes, which is illegal. They can be made legal by removing those stud/studs.
I’ve never heard anyone using baseball-specific cleats for rugby but I suppose they would be OK, just so long as you don’t have those dreaded toe studs. If in doubt, ask your coach.

I would not think you could use baseball cleats. As the other posters have said, toe cleats are not allowed, and all baseball cleats have toe cleats. I suggest a good pair of soccer cleats.Answer by Marc
You can either wear soccer cleats, any kind of molded cleat ( rubber on the bottom), American football cleats ( if the toe stud is removed) or traditional rugby cleats. Baseball cleats are not legal and cannot be made legal because of the kind of cleat they have on the bottom. The only stud allowed in rugby is a circular stud rounded, or blunted on the bottom. Baseball cleats use a spiked stud that too dangerous.
