So… are you asking this literally? What is there to say? Landscape photography is photos of landscapes. Other photography is not. What is there to not understand?
Or do you mean what do landscape photographers typically do differently than other forms of photography? If that is the case, a landscape photographer generally uses wider angle lenses, a smaller aperture, (higher fstop), for more depth of field, uses a tripod due to the often times slow shutter speeds required, and strives to always work in the best lighting for a particular scene. Composition is critical to achieve a balance of foreground, middle, and background that is interesting. Exposure is carefully calculated to seek to avoid blown out highlights and blocked up shadows. Film can be a help here as it has such high dynamic range. HDR processes can be used with digital for balanced exposure in high contrast areas.
Truly great landscape photography is far more than just “taking a shot of that field over there”.
Ansel Adams was probably the most famous landscape photographer who ever lived and his original photos sell for HUGE money.
