What is the difference between high school dance ensemble and the pom and dance team?

Venia pronounced as vuh knee yuh: What is the difference between high school dance ensemble and the pom and dance team?
I want to join a dance team, but do not know the difference.

Is the pom and dance team more of a cheer leading team?
Then if it is, how come we have a cheer leading team and a pom and dance team?
Or is pom dance more like a “band dancing” team?

You are going to have to ask your school to explain it to you. The terms Pom, Dance Line, Cheer leader etc. are used differently from one school to the next.
All share some similarities.
