What is the difference between early childhood education and elementary education?

Kate: What is the difference between early childhood education and elementary education?
I am interested in teaching preschool, kindergarten, first through third grade reading, art, physical education, or special education. Which one would fall into this category? I would like to know what the difference is between early childhood education and elementary education.

Fall into what category? ECE is pre-k to 2nd grade. Elementary is 3-6 (or 5th). P.E. is all grades as well as the other specialties.
