Skittles: What is the difference between believing in God and believing in Santa Claus?
As a kid, didn’t you wholeheartedly believe in St. Nick until you were told otherwise or you just grew to understand on your that he wasn’t real? Since parents can’t put prayer answers under the tree, christians continue to believe in God, but discontinue belief in Santa because when they became adults they realized that they WERE santa. lol Maybe they need to also realize that they ARE god? you make things happen for yourself in life..not god. You place those gifts under the tree for your kids…not Santa.

The difference is Santa Claus is made up. God is not made up. His existence is real. It is a pity that you cannot see the difference between santa and God. I pray you receive guidance.Answer by Who
Belief in Santa Claus is harmless, belief in God is not… I don’t know of a single person who was ever persecuted, tortured, or killed because they didn’t believe in Santa! Santa – unlike God – is entirely benevolent.Answer by quaz

Both religion and atheism can cause absolution of responsibility. The religionist can believe he does not need to do anything to please God but pray. The atheist can believe he does not need to do anything to please a “Cosmic Cause” but himself. In effect, religionists and atheists would not differ except in the identity of their deity. For the atheist, mortal man. For the religionist, an unseen Being. But atheism would force all men to turn to politics. Is politics any less destructive than religion? What’s the difference between belonging to a church and belonging to a political party? What’s the difference between a pastor on a pulpit and a politician on a platform? What’s the difference between bowing down to a cross and standing up for a flag? The consequence of belief, atheistic or religious, does not stem from the belief in God or some Cosmic Cause. It is in the personality of the thing that is given devotion. God can take on different personalities depending on the religious persuasion. The Cosmic Cause can take on different morality depending on the atheist, or politician, we choose to admire. So the core issue comes down to what kind of personality is the perfect personality to lead society out of its woes and steer it astray from further woes. Whether you believe in one of the pantheon of men or one of the pantheon of gods would make no difference in the effect it has on people. It is the personality of that one that you believe in that makes the difference. If God exists, we would need to find the TRUE “image,” that is, personality. (Genesis 1:26; Colassians 3:10) If God does not exist, we would need to find the BEST image, or person. Has politics made society any better than religion? Or is there an image of God that can truly lead men out of its woes? Furthermore, can God be blamed if he is misrepresented?
The balance in your logic is not completely equal. Having never seen Santa nor God equates. Having been told about Santa and God as a youth equates. Santa and God giving gifts equates. But the only way to learn about Santa is by word of mouth. You cannot discern the existence of Santa by the things in nature; but you can discern the existence of God in this way. (Romans 1:20) The design in a butterflys wings, the symmetry in a man’s face. The concept of happiness and sadness, joy and misery. What the Bible does is merely explain the personality of God, the existence is evident in nature.
But if we do not believe there is one true religion, neither can we believe there is one true political persuasion. So atheism would equal religion in its effect on people.

Santa clause was a made up story to entertain children which originated from the actual person saint Nickolas. But Christianity isn’t just some made up story that was made to entertain, it has been around for hundreds of years and originated in Judaism, and the whole belief system follows the Bible which was written thousands of years ago. although Santa is a fairytale proven to be what it is, and agreed by all to be fake, Christianity has reality to it, and is based on both Judaism and Jesus.Answer by David Pratt
