well usually if your pap smear is abnormal then they will have you go in for a colposcopy which is when they take a closer look at your cervix

Answer by im2elite4uA pelvic exam is where your doctor inserts a speculum into your vagina and feels your uterus, ovaries, bladder, rectum and fallopian tubes to check for abnormalities in shape or size. This is normally follwed by a pap test which is how your doctor detected abnormal cells on your cervix. Your OB/GYN will probably want to do something called a colposcopy. This is a large electric microscope that will help your doctor get a better look @ the abnormal cells on your cervix. She will then be able to determine the next step for you. Take a deep breath and relax, this is a very common thing for women to go through. Always feel free to ask your doctor any questions that you may have. It is their job to keep you informed on what is happening in your body.
