Kellerz: What is the current connection between the riots in Egypt and what is going on in Libya?
I am listening to the news in the background right now, and I am aware that there are riots in Egypt, but I do not understand why Libya is in the picture as well?
Any light shed on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Libya has been protesting for about week now, since February 15. They were inspired by the overthrow of Mubarak in Egypt, they saw Egypt succeed so the Libyans want to overthrow their dictator as well, except the Libyan leader is firing back and not really stepping down 🙁
Here is more on it:

Egyptians protested because they had been oppressed by dictator Hosni Mubarak, who ruled Egypt with an iron fist for 30 years. They are now free and figuring out what they want Egypt to become. Mubarak murdered his people while they were protesting, but he finally stepped down.
The situation in Libya is much different. Madman Muammar Gaddafi is the longest ruling dictator in the Mideast, ruling for 42 years. Also with an iron fist. Except he refuses to step down and has been butchering his people with fighter jets and mercenaries. Benghazi is free, but Gaddafi has vowed to die a martyr and kill as many people as he can. His son, Seif, got on Libyan tv and threatened civil war, with much bloodshed. Estimates are as high as possibly 2,000 dead so far, but no one is sure until this is over.
Americans and others have finally been evacuated after a delay due to bad weather, and I’m hoping this will soon be over. At first, the Libyans were begging the world to stop Gaddafi, but now that the world has ignored them thus far, they don’t want foreigners involved. They have done it themselves so far, and they’re determined that they’ll be the ones to make Gaddafi go. Good for them!

The connection is very simple and is similar to the connection between the Egyptian and Tunisian revolutions.
When Tunisians succeeded in overthrowing their dictator, Tunisia showed that oppressed people CAN overthrow their regimes. Egyptians inspired by the tunisian revolution overthrew Hosny Mubarak. Libyans in their turn inspired by Egyptian and Tunisian revolutions began their own.
Answer by Some Snow Would Be NiceI’m from Libya and I’ll tell you exactly what happened..
Tunisians started protesting a month ago, wanting the dethroning of their president. About 25 days later he left. All thanks to them.
Then about couple of days later Egyptians started protesting, about 18 days later. Husni Mubarak left.
Libya is a bit different, because we feared Gaddafi, we couldn’t even speak of his name the past 42 years because he has a lot of people working for him and would turn anyone who speaks of him in to the police. And they would be put in jail, because he is a dictator, people all over Libya were jailed, killed without anyone saying anything because we couldn’t.
Now, Libyans got the courage to start protesting against him, mostly cause we watched Tunisians and Egyptians make it happen and that gave us hope. Unfortunately we knew he would start killing people as soon as we started but that didn’t stop us.
Here, in Benghazi, the 2nd biggest city after the capital, where it all started. had started protesting on the 17th on Feb. burnt down every police station and every military camp and freed Benghazi, 5 days later.
And the same went on for all the eastern cities in Libya. Now its all up to the capital of Libya, Tripoli, to start protesting against that cold-blooded Muammar Gaddafi.
About 3000 people have died so far.
