Lol_gurl: What is the closest sport to gymnastics?
I love gymnastics, but I don’t think I could completely commit to it… So what is/are the closest sports to gymnastics? Besides aikido…
Also, please no cheerleading… I’m really peppy and love yelling… but… my family would get annoyed and I’m honestly really shy… Not good in front of crowds…
Also, dancing isn’t my thing… and the only ice skating rink where I live is really expensive and far away from my city.
Another thing, nothing where it’s required to do competitions.

You could try dancing but theres not much gymnastics there, cheerleading has tumbling. You could go to a tumbling class.Another sport is sport aerobics its really fun and uses strength moves and you can be on a team with your friends and enter a competition.Answer by CheerGirl
i’m reallly shy too. extremely. and i had the same problem. I love gym but it took up absolutely every bit of my time. i’m now a cheerleader and i love it. i can’t imagine not doing it now. don’t worry about the shy thing. i’m no good with crowds either. but honestly, the jumping, tumbling, and strength required for some stunts.. it’s the best and closest thing. and your family getting annoyed would be.. stupid? i mean how can they? just don’t make it a huge part of your home life.
good luck.
Answer by smile on:)well you pretty much got rid of everything close to gymnastics.
but ya know, you don’t have to compete if your not on the gymnastics team.
just don’t try out for the team, but join gymnastic classes at your closest gymnastics gym. and you won’t have to be as committed if your not on the team.
trust me, my friend went through the same thing. and that is what she did. also, their is just plain tumbling classes you can sign up for if you don’t want to do beam and bars and vault. just floor stuff then sign up for tumbling classes. because that is what i did.

Gymnastics is pretty much one of a kind.. Maybe you could just join a recreational tumbling team? It’s much less of a commitment than full-time gymnastics, and I’m pretty sure you don’t have to compete.Answer by Liz
Maybe Parkour?
Its about overcoming obstacles with the human body…I do gymnastics and they have classes at the gym. They learn different ways to jump over piles of mats, or other stuff. It takes strength and agility, and there is some flipping involved so it would be similar to gymnastics I think. Like, in the gym you would be doing some cool jump/ roll thing over a squishy barrel, but in real life it could be a park bench…super cool! You’d be like a ninja!Answer by teeenie11501
something with flexibility and strength required is good like contortion. i am in gymnastics now and the closest thing is probably dance like jazz or acro something like thatAnswer by Blah Blah CATz
You don’t have to completely commit to gymnastics. You don’t like to compete, then do recreational gymnastics classes. It’s usually on the weekends, on Saturday mornings at 11 or you can do evening classes during the week. Whenever works for you they can accommodate your schedule. I have been doing gymnastics for 8 years and is started from recreational classes. Try it, be safe, and have fun. You only live life once.
