yenitsed: What is the best photography camera you can buy for 300 or under?
I’m not using it for real, serious photography but for when I’m on a vacation or scenic photos. I’m not looking for a small digital camera either, because I already have one. I’d like to buy a Nikon, Canon or Kodak that’s around 14mp.
*300 dollars or under.

with compact cameras, never go with Nikon. Nikon does great with DSLR.
Here are two great cameras which are under 300 dollars:
Canon PowerShot ELPH 500 HS

Canon PowerShot SD4500 IS

I agree with the Nikon comment that economical Nikon’s are not up to par. However Kodak is “panned” quite a bit also on this forum. I purchased a Kodak 981z with a Schneider lens and the pictures are sharp as a tack! However as others on this forum have pointed out the life span of Kodak cameras can be a lot shorter than your big guns like Canon, Pentax, Nikon (DSLR’s). I have had the kodak for a year now with no problems. It is a nice “grab and shoot” camera and I know I will get sharp pictures as my habit when buying a new camera, I test it out and print the nicest picture to 11×14 to check sharpness I especially like the vertical grip, it is the cat’s meow as it is very comfortable to hold, compose & shoot! Amazon has a good price on it now. If I was able to go over $ 300.00 I would go for the Canon Sx 30 IS or even better the Canon Sx10 IS if I could find this older model.Answer by keerok
