zah: What is a reasonable charge for my sister to watch my newborn when I go back to work?
My sister is a stay at home mom with 2 kids of her own and said if I would pay her she will watch my baby when I go back to work until he is old enough to go to daycare. What is a reasonable amount that she should charge me to watch him?

I will be working 4 days a week from 9-5.

I would call a few childcare centers and get their rates, there are alot of centers that take children 6 weeks and up. I’m guessing at least $ 100/week.

to going rate where i live in 8.50 an hour. but i charge $ 5 an hour to watch a child, and if i know the person or they are family, i charge about 20$ a day

I did the same for my sister and i charged her 150 a week. But, that was for 2 kids and transporting one to and from school.

check with the daycares in your area and see what their going rate is. I would give her a reasonable amount, comparable to their rate.

About $ 20-$ 25 a day. You will not get anything cheaper anywhere else, and you know you can trust your sister.

If I was SAHM and didnt need my sister’s money, I would do it for free or $ 50 which is enough to take the kids on outings each week, but if that is her only income I would say at least $ 100 a week
