natashaiera: What is a practical career choice for someone about to graduate high school who is having a baby?
It has always been my dream to be a lawyer, but now that I am pregnant i’ve realized that becoming a lawyer is going to be completely impractical. I’ve always put my expectation very high for myself, and even though i’m having a baby at a young age, I still believe I can be very successful in life. Can someone please tell me what a reliable career choice would be for my situation? A career that maybe would not require any internships or a career that I would be able to get right after college?

Something in the medical field such as a nurse who takes care of babies? I’m sure the experience will help you along.Answer by fieldworking
If you have the family support, then going to law school could be possible. Difficult but possible.
Computer science is also something that would be a good choice and being female in a traditionally male dominated field would put you at an advantage. Unfortunately, internships would be beneficial in this field. It may not be required but would be a great way to gain experience before actually getting into the workforce. Additionally, you could find jobs with the federal government .
Nursing is also something sensible and you could make pretty good money. Also consider becoming a teacher. The pay may not be great but it is something that you could do right after finishing college.
If you don’t want to consider going on to graduate school then I would recommend that you stay away from the life and physical sciences (biology, ecology, wildlife biology, env. and natural resources, chemistry, and physics).
