To be continued. Same God time. Same God channel.
Is it a thesis (where you are trying to argue a position) or just an essay (information)?
[The following is from a Christian perspective – Obviously Judaism disagrees that Jesus is the Messiah of God]
Christianity considers itself to be somewhat of an extension of Judaism. As such, Hebrew scriptures are included in the Christian Bible; making up the Old Testament. Christians consider Jesus, the Christ, to be the Hebrew Messiah promised in the Hebrew scriptures. From a Christian perspective, Jews and Christians worship the same God, but in very different ways. Judaism and Christianity represent two systems (or covenants) by which a person can relate to God.
Adherents of Judaism worship God in accordance to “the Law” (the covenant mediated to Moses between God and the nation of Israel). The Law is a legalistic (works based) covenant whereby God’s favor is promised in response to Israel fulfilling their obligation to a list of righteous actions.
According to Christianity, the blood sacrifice of Christ initiated a New Covenant (between God and Christ). The New Covenant is a covenant of grace (unmerited favor) whereby God’s favor towards Christians is not based on their actions.
– The Old Covenant is for Jews only (and Jewish proselytes)
– The NC offers salvation to all of humanity (Jews and Gentiles).
– The OC required constant blood sacrifices (to atone for sin).
– The NC only required one perfect sacrifice
– The OC was between God and people (so it can be broken by people not doing their part)
– The NC is between God and the perfect Christ (so Christians can’t break the covenant through our inability to be righteous).
– The OC is a covenant of works/law (God’s favor is earned)
– The NC is a covenant of grace (recognizing that no one is righteous enough of themselves to earn/deserve God’s favor – so it is offered freely to those who belong to Christ).
If it’s only an essay, you could mention the purpose of the Law.
