Someone close may have cancer. I am going to the hospital to pray over them, and looking through my bible to see what may be a good, inspirational verse. Any good ones?

Psalm 103:1-4
Bless the LORD, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the LORD, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
But you might be setting THE GAWD up for failure. If I were you I’d put my money on sound medical treatment, not magical thinking to an invisible sky daddy.
Answer by Doorkeeper86This is a great verse.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 says ” 16Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

That seems appropriate.

I hope it turns out that they don’t have cancer.
I think that you should ask a pastor or a priest. It’s not that I don’t want to help, it’s that a pastor or priest is the expert.
Hmmm maybe there is something in the book of Luke. Luke was a physician.
You can ask us to pray for your loved one. We’ll be glad to.
Of course prayer and spirituality are of the utmost importance, but some people mistakenly believe that medical treatments go against the Bible. I’m not condemning anyone’s beliefs, but they are always making new medical advances, and the field of medicine is a GOOD thing. Luke in the Bible was a physician. No matter what happens, your loved one should seek a second, and third opinion. I hope that they don’t have cancer but you could also help them by researching clinical trials, remember, there’s always another option regarding treatment. I’m not saying that prayer doesn’t help, I think it does, but it’s important to know what’s out there in terms of treatments. I hope this helps!

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 (ESV)
Those whom are called according to his purpose are those whom have put their faith in Christ (the elect).
All things work together for the good of the elect. No matter what the doctors say, it is for the good of your friend (if you friend is trusting in Christ) and other believers.
If your friend is not trusting in Christ, now is the time to lead them into that relationship.

I’ve noticed that some atheists on this site hate Christians (even though they have met only a few out of a total of 2 billion) and also hate it when Christians spread the Gospel and they even turn into sad pathetic little trolls who give insulting answers which are not relevant to the question being asked. If a person in Hospital does not want to be prayed over, I’m sure that they can say that themself.
Apparently Christians are bigots who follow the laws of an ancient book, so whats your excuse?
Answer by Steven BAfter reading all the responses to this point, I’m truly sorry you’re having to deal with people using this forum to press their agenda, which to them is more important than this person who’s close to you having cancer. Again I’m truly sorry.
If you believe in our Lord and Savior Jesus, then just be there for them. You showing them Christ’s love through you will be more of an impact than anything you can say. If the person is a believer and they are saved, they understand this. If they are not a believer, then again, just be there for them. You just focus on what you trust in. “But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself.” (John 12:32).
We don’t understand why God allows things to happen. Isaiah 55:8 says “”For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, “declares the Lord”.
Sorry such a long answer. I truly hope this helps.
Answer by andrew (one of His sheep)Thank you for asking this, I would recommend praying to the Lord that He would give you a verse. All of God’s word is inspirational, and it is when He makes it alive in us that it becomes special to us. The Lord opens our eyes and hearts to see those precious promises that He gives to us in His word, how precious His word is! I would love to share some verses that I love and that I am thinking of right now that have to do with praying for someone.
Matthew 21:21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.
22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
James 5:14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
I have prayed for you and your friend,
with sincerity in Christ,
andrew
