: What internet scam is it that is sending a yahoo instant message friend request from my own yahoo user id?
Starting 13 February 2012, whenever I would open my yahoo email account I would get a pop-up yahoo messenger request from my own yahoo id. I simply denied the request. I was wondering if anyone else was receiving such requests and if anyone might know what kind of scam is being run from these fake requests?

This sounds like malware. Run Malwarebytes and delete any infected files and it should stop
