it depends on which state you are talking about. In most the legal age of consent is 18, but there are still some that insist on 21.
I have gotten one at Motel 6 when I was 18. I thought the age limit was 18?… Not 21?Answer by ♥The Princess Baby♥

call ahead, ask about a AAA discount… tell them that your place is being fumigated, ask for the manager if they won’t rent to you. Explain that you’re not there for a party, that you need somewhere to sleep while you’re having your hardwood floors done in your house… whatever.Answer by missmara42
Most states have an innkeeper’s law where you have to be at least 21 to rent a hotel room. The reason for that is because of liability in case of under age drinking. If the registered guest is over 21 and provides alcohol to minors they are responsible, but if the hotel rents to someone under 21 and there is alcohol the hotel is responsible. Too many parents in the past have rented hotels for their under age little darlings to party in so their homes don’t get trashed and they trash the hotels instead.Answer by jodiiidyan
