sapphire: What happens if you buy a house up for taxes and there is someone living in it?
Ok, here’s the situation. My fiance and I are looking to buy a house that is up for deliquent taxes. The only problem is there are people living in the house. I was told all we have to do when we buy the house is give them 30 days to move out. After that the house is ours. Is this true? Anyone have experience with this? Thanks

You do not have to give them anytime, as soon as the sale is final have the Sheriff throw them out it’s your house.
I’ve had no experience with buying a house with people living in it, but since I don’t know what state the house in, I can’t give you an answer for certain. Were they renting it from the previous owner? If so, you might have to honor the lease that they signed, after all it’s not their fault that their landlord lost the house. Even if they were squatters there are certain legal steps you need to follow to get them out of the house. And if they were the previous owners of the house, once again, you need to follow the legal guidelines for the state the house is in. Your best bet is to ask an attorney familiar with real estate law in the state the house is in. The question that you have asked is a renting and real estate sections questions, not really a taxes question.Answer by phillip w
Yes that’s the law on tax possion. If after 30 days
and they don’t move, don’t take any excuses.con tact the sherife and sow him the papers.then the court will issue a evection on demand notice.the law will serve it and probly give them 7-10 to days
To move Then if they don’t there belonging will
be hauled out,and set out side of your property
There are people live this way and think no one
will catch them they find a empty house and just
move in then the proses starts over again with a
new owner. They go to the court records, and look
up property where a lot of taxes is owed and just move in.This is called ( SQATTERS LAW.)
there isen’t any such law anymore.
This the best i can give you.
I wish you the best of luck.keep in mind there may
be a lien or morage aginest it that the court may
show.
I wish you well and the best of luck
