You can get an expedited passport WITHIN 72 hours if you have a bonafide emergency; the cost will be higher than for a regular passport but it is doable.

You are required to have a passport for all international air travel. Airlines will typically not permit you to board without having a passport, but should you make it past them, you will be denied entry into Mexico by Mexican Immigration authorities if you do not have a passport. As the other users have said, if it is a legitimate emergency, you can get an expedited passport for an increased fee.Answer by MrsKShuck
