We’re thinking about getting another kitten, but we don’t know which gender we should get. My male cat has been neutered, so does it really matter?

I would get a male.
My two girl cats HATE each other, but the two boys are fine, and the boys and girls are fine.

Female
The Male cat is dominant. If you add another male cat to the mix, they will constantly be fighting. It will also increase their Testosterone levels because of the fighting instinct, which will cause them to be sexually aggressive towards the female cat.

get a yellow/orange tabby, female would be best. They are genuily the kindest cats. The male might fight for his territory, but the female will be nice. usually the girls will just stay away from eachotherAnswer by sassysuzy
I don’t know where these people get their information, but the fact is that two females are the *least* likely of any pairing to get along, while two males are the most likely to get along.
In your situation, a young male is your best bet.
