Dusty: What football position would i be best at trying out for?
I’ve never played football before and I am planning on trying out for my highschool team, I am 5″7, 170 lbs, I am decently fast, strong legs and upper body, I just have no clue what pos I would be best at going for.

well you didn’t include your bench numbers or anything. possibly running back or receiver
U should probably bea corner or safty bc deffence is Easyer to understand. And ur a little on the small side no offence and your new to the game. With this two pos you basically follow on your side as a corner and saftys keep moving were the ball is but they stay back bc there the last line of deffence although saftys do need good speed and u might not have it that something u could work on but corner u need just about your speed. And just read up on the game and pos and watch the game to understand good luck p.s. U could always try out for any pos u might not make it but u tried.Answer by StashBrowns
Cornerback or running back. You have a good frame for either of these positions. However Cornerback might be easier, to make a spot more than a running back. But if your high school lets you play both sides choose running back and cornerback.Answer by Kong K
How about being a Safety because that doesn’t require a very high body. But if this your first, try to aim for Tight-End. That you must have catching skill and have good resistance skill from your hand.Answer by greatest

you should play either running back, corner back or safetyAnswer by Rob B
It’s not like you show up to practice and your coach makes you decide in secret what you want to do and that’s where you’re stuck. If you truly don’t have a clue, then just go to practice and your coach will decide for you.
People here who think they are so wise as to say “running back” have no clue about your team, your schemes, or your coach’s philosophies. They are only trying to sound intelligent.Answer by ~Buccos~
