Islam is NOT the source of violence. They are reacting to the political, economic, and military practices of developed so-called Christian nations.
Peace
Answer by yettiNO it is not. True Islam, from what little I know, is a very peaceful and tolerant religion. It is the few bad apples who interpret the text and ideas in way to gain more power for themselves, just as the christians did during the crusades 900 years ago. The bad things is, people don’t see the good side, they only see what NBC reports, which is only the bad things…so that is what people beleive. Its sad.Answer by haywood jablome
Historically, Islam has been no more violent than Christianity or Judaism. One only need examine the Old Testament and the Crusades to see that. The growth of violent Muslim extremism over the past 40-50 years likely has more to do with politics and economics than with Islam. If the Middle East were predominately Christian, the extremists would find a justification within Christianity for their violent acts. The killing of innocents or prisoners and the destruction of buildings during warfare are forbidden by the Koran.Answer by Rayne Storm
There are different sects in Islam…The extremist fundamentalist Sunnis are the violent Muslims, who are taught that they must kill all who do not share their religious beliefs, and that they will be rewarded by their God for doing so, as well as shunned and punished if they do not.

No, true Islam is a very peaceful religion.Answer by Eric
This all comes down to number.
For any given belief system, muslim, hindu, budist, athiest, christian, jewish, etc. etc. there is a percentage of that faith that would like to see a terrorist type act performed in the name of that faith. Of those people, there is a percentage that would publically support a terrorist type of act, and of those people there is a percentage that would actually carry out such an act.
Many people argue that the terroris acts being carried out around the world are done only by a extremist minority. the fact that if we combine the extremist minorities of hindu, christian, jewish, budist and athiest it is a very VERY rare event to see a terrorist type event in the name of any of these faiths and so that fits the theory of “extremist minority”
With Islam on the other hand, it is much more common. The numbers alone would indicate that it is not an extremist minorty, but that 40% to 60% of the muslim population at least supports the idea of terroist type attacks.
Answer by nohalmno. Islam the religion is not a source of violence. The Muslim extremists are the source of violence, meaning not the religion but some of the believers. Islam is a very peaceful religion, it’s just some of the people whom believe in it that take it to the point of ridiculousness.
