Stuart B: What do you call a house where each corned is aligned to a point of the compass?
I’m buying a house and it’s certainly got charactor. One feature is that each corner is aligned to a point of the compass (NESW) but the agent and owner aren’t sure what the name is for a house like this, although they agree there is one. I’m no architect but it looks similar to a local Methodist Church in construction so that might be something to do with it and someone has said it’s called a Manx house but I can’t find any reference to this type of building.

Cardinally aligned (like the Egyptians with their pyramids)!
