I haven’t read any of his books yet, but I think Ian McEwan’s novels fit the literary/bestseller category. Cormac McCarthy would also fit that description. If you haven’t read McCarthy’s “The Road” yet you should pick up a copy. It is a phenomenal book. Toni Morrison is another one.

‘Water for Elephants’ by Sara Gruen would fit under being considered literature – while at the same time it has been a pretty big bestseller.
